Greening the library

Making an eco-friendly library is not only important in helping reduce our carbon imprint but providing an example to the community. No task is is meaningless.

In what ways can libraries reduce their carbon imprint and also infuse the community?

In the age of electric cars, fortunate libraries my be able to implement parking specifically for electric cars. Or, build a community garden which benefits the community by suppling homeless shelters with the fruits of its labor.

From eliminating plastic bags to switching to energy efficient bulbs start making a change to a sustainable library.

SecondLife

SecondLife is exactly what the name legitimizes; it is a whole different world to get lost in. I can imagine how people can easily get addicted to this program. Personally, I don’t have enough time to play around but if I did I would take as many classes as possible.
I think my favorite part as yet of SecondLife is seeing Snow (I don’t know the last part of his name) change into many different forms. It amazes me that you are able to create such imaginative and detailed avatars.
I still have trouble moving around and getting a hold on the program as a whole but with a little initiative I will hopefully gain more confidence. I am still apprehensive about talking with strangers and if I see someone I usually run or just quit, since I have already been yelled at because I was trying to change the appearance of my avatar instead of chatting.
I made a “flower box bench” which I felt was time consuming, for my first time, but much easier to understand than I thought. I would like to somehow fill the boxes with dirt and flowers so it actually looks pretty but a bit beyond my reach for now.
I absolutely almost busted a gut while watching my avatar try to avoid the Bees!!
